i440D Sahara Tablet PC – 10 Hour Battery now available…

The 10 hour batteries are now in stock and can be ordered via the website.  During the HIMMS convention earlier this year there was a lot of interest in this add on and who can’t use 8-10 hours of battery life.  This could come in very handy when using dictation  features too that have a tendency to drag a little extra power with the software.  The unit is priced at $369.00 and fits flush on the back of the tablet.  Actual battery life varies according to which software programs are being used and the duration.

To view the earlier post on the Sahara Tablet, you can go here.

The post was also included here at Computer Shopper, the same information at mentioned above.

Question is, will this flat battery make the laptop bullet proof?

This Panasonic "Toughbook" actually saved a soldier's life!

test- my posts aren't being put up in real time, and it's annoying. I'll stop posting if this continues! Angry

addendum-

Hmmm... this one got through fast enough. My original post with a pic has been lost... oh well, it's everyone's loss.

Let me know when this gets fixed, so that I can post again. I can't be losing my posts over and over and over again!

Bye

Al

Tell Martin to call me. I'd like to ride Sahara in real life. Stick out tongue

I know this type of life is very subjective, Much like a women, Tell Martin I want to have, "EMR INTERCOURSE," with the Sahara battery and see how long she lasts.

Yeah I think it is really cool that all the Tablets are now adding expansion packs and other technology for upgrading battery life.  In HP Tablet they are now up to 11 hours via the expansion battery pack they offer with 10 hours in the expansion pack.

It appears this type of battery life is becoming a standard.  We would have to see what the real battery life is.

I was at a computer show a couple of days ago and saw a Lenovo laptop using a 64Gb flash drive ... similar thickness to the Mac.  It also had an option to replace the optical drive with a battery extending battery life to a similar period of time.  Also had a cute light built into the screen frame .... a NZ$3000+ laptop turned into a reading light!!

Graham, the Lonovo/IBM is also using the 60GB Flash Drive.  So cool, the HP Tablet also has a 60GB Flash Drive.   Both are 10 hours time.

Real cool stuff, I alwas liked IBM Laptop/Tablet PC.

I think it is cool Solid State Drives and 10+ Battery Life is becoming a standard.

Both the HP and Lonovo are around 3K with the Extended Battery and Solid state drive.

Add the Sahara and I think I will go see what Toshiba and Fujitsu have on this functionality.

Take care buddy,

B

Toshiba no go on Solid State or Battery Life of 10 hour.  Fujitsu no go on Solid State, but have 10 hour battery available.

I wonder if anyone is using these laptops with solid state drives as servers.  Synapse server would run fine on them, and the solid state drive would make worrying about hard drive crashes not a concern.

And 10 hours sounds like a decent period for a UPS.

Hi Graham, yes you can order one of the tablets with a SATA drive, choice of either 5400 or 7200 rpm, which the latter may take a little more power, but it will give you the speed you want.

There's also a connection for an outside drive built in too, so connecting an external SATA is possible as well, right below the USB ports.  Hope that helps.
