  • EHR Adoption Remains Off in the Distance – Getting way to complicated

The comment below from a vendor is interesting, as he comments on the fact that a physician can make an extra $125,000 in 5 years, well some family care practice doctors today in California would like to just be making that in one year, as all the recent contracts with insurance companies are getting...

  • Intel buys mobile Linux startup

Intel is on the move today with either investing or purchasing entities to progress the future of technology.  With this acquisition, it further makes the mark that Linux is continuing to evolve in today’s business world.  Linux used to be viewed as a competitor from the Windows side of things...

  • Re: For the MS haters

[quote user="ZenTech"] Cloud computing will hopefully open up the door to os independant applications but that's a long time away. I have high hopes that someday users will be able to choose to buy either a mac or pc, run either windows or linux and be able to run the same applications...

  • Re: Windows Registry question -

I can't help but wonder if running Windows in a virtual machine on Linux or Mac would be better. Copy your virtual hard drive every so often and when the windows install goes kaput, just delete the current hard drive image and go back to one of the old ones. Voila, your Windows install is back to...

  • Re: In the new economy, 'free becomes inevitable'

[quote user="JamesNT"] There is no such thing as free. For those who believe in the word free, I highly recommend you attend an economics class at your local community college. [...] In some forseable future EMR software may approach commodity level or may even be offered for free. However...

  • Re: Client-Server without the server

All of this expense for Windows Server and Windows SQL is essentially wasteful. Catalis uses a Linux-based server system. Not only is Linux arguably as stable and secure as windows (probably more stable and secure), it is also much lower cost (for commercial Linux like RHEL) or free (Debian, fedora,...

  • Sahara i440D Tablet PC from TabletKiosk – Running Open Suse 10.3 Linux

Nice video showing some “inking” with Linux.  Get a Linux license from Microsoft sound out of the ordinary, yes it does, but in China Microsoft had partnered with Novell to just that.   In healthcare, recently more software vendors have announced support for Linux as well, thus now it is possible...
